But I'm just real angry with Suzi and her stupid naming team for doing a whole line devoted to 007 and not including Dr. No or From Russia with Love (my all time favourite Bond film). I mean really?! For shame, Suzi, FOR SHAME.
I could have done without all of the Pierce Brosnan 007 polishes too, yawn. I'd just like to go on record as saying that Sean Connery & Daniel Craig are the only Bond's that I like. Because, well, have you looked at the latter? He is the secks.
Can I also just say that Daniela Bianchi (or should I say Barbara Jefford?) as Tatiana Romanov is the BEST Bond girl? Eva Green as Vesper Lynd comes in as a close second for me.
ANYWAY.
Whenever I hear "Live and Let Die", this is the first thing I think of:
If you've never sang along to Guns N' Roses songs in Axl's voice, it's mega fun. Kinda like how everyone air drums to In The Air Tonight? You gotta sing in his voice just once.
When I rode horses (which seems like a lifetime ago now), my little chestnut Thoroughbred LOVED Guns N' Roses. Their songs still makes me sentimental and take me back to riding on cold winter nights =)
The polish. Right.
This is 3 coats with SV!
I looooooove this polish. As I mentioned earlier, it was the only I'd wanted...but the more I look at swatches, the more I think I want Skyfall and Casino Royale! Thoughts?
disclaimer: I may have a red problem...

Crying because this looked like butt on me, but gorg on you.
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of OPI because they may not wow me these days, but man, do they wear well!
Rach - I have a huge OPI collection - I jumped on them big time in 89 when they released their first polishes - and soon there after had 3 collections that moved to 4 collections each yr. I still have some of the very first OPIs released - a lot of them from the 90's and early 2000's...I should pull up my database and do a ct of how many are OPI - I am pretty sure they make up the most of any brand in my collection - have purged it #'s of times but I kept most of my OPIs in the purges I have done
Deleteit looked maj on you!!
DeleteThis is true...but their dang brushes. Ugh.
Thanks for saying there was blue in this one - I kept thinking it was something other than green shimmer in an off black but could not put my finger on what else it has in it - but it's a deep teal blue - can see it now you put the color name to it. It's not my fav shade in this collection but it's one I did buy. It's not a great looking one on me like Rach above said...not sure why. I am certainly between a fair to very light completion - esp this time of yr! As far as other shades in this collection - I right off knew I had to have You Only Live Twice as I am a huge fan of OPI Let Me Entertain You and while I have back ups to it, it already is going for around $15/bottle. YOLT is a deeper glass fleck magenta but not blackend - yet it's a great magenta that is completely winter OK where as lots of magentas are only spring/summer. I wear that shade on my toes constantly of late.
ReplyDeleteCTN - As for other shades my next fav is Tomorrow Never Dies (think that is it...the purple that many say is burple. I was surprised how much this was my shade and how great it looks on. I love it with the gold flake topper esp. The one I don't like at all is Moonraker - way too frosty but the shade is work appropriate (I guess because it's not going to be too out there)...and I don't like the glitter one - it's just not worth the $ and sort of odd shades...but then I am not a big glitter gal. Only reason I bought Casino Royale is because that was the shade OPI released in their super early photos of the gold flake (man with a golden gun) and I wanted to try it that way..it's an OK shade but I think I have others like it or similar. Goldeneye is pretty but not all that wearable now that holiday is over - it was OK for accent nails but kind of a pain to get it off. If you don't have a glowy red/orange Die Another Day is a big winner...but to me it does not have enough gold shimmer particles in it - I am big on that kind of a warm red like OPI Dear Santa - but then I have a ton of reds...still it's a nice shade. On Her Majesty's Secret Service is really pretty but if you have Zoya FeiFei or the one Sinful Colors makes they are all similar and you only need 1...out of all those I like Her Majesty's Secrete Service best - it's more blue and the particles of color specks in it remind me of the formula that NOPI put in Good As Gold and Busta Mava and one from the NOPI holiday Kardashian Kolors. This formula really gets me - I never have seen such distinct shades that don't blend into the formula but stay separate but as soooo small they look like one shade from just back a tish...but you look up close and you see all the goodies. Those are all my favs from this collection which next to the Zoya holiday collection was my fav of the holiday collections out there. I still miss having OPI do a real holiday themed collection - guess they decided there was more $$$ in the movie tie ins or maybe it's just not to them politically correct to do a holiday collection - I just love some of their old holiday collections - they are perhaps over time, my fav collections of all - I would look forward to their unveiling every yr and miss having them now...some of my fav shades of all time came out of the OPI holiday collections.
ReplyDeleteAs for GNG - I hope you get to see the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame 2012 show that is on HBO now...while Axel did not show up...(surprise - not!), they were great and it was so cool seeing Stones Ronnie Wood (who also got induced for a 2nd time for his participation in Small Faces (where Faces reformed and added Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart became a well know singer before he went off on his own in 70 and hit huge. I was glad that Axel did not show)...whew that was a run on - anyhow...fun to see/hear Ronnie Wood come out and place geeetar with Slash! - Wow! If they added in Eric Clapton and Keith Richard to the mix it would have been even more insane but neither of those guys were there that night. The new lead singer for GNR is beyond amazing and honestly he sounds so much like a clean Axel Rose it blew my mind! I did see Axle play with GNG at the annual day long concert that Neil Young and his wife put on every year - The Bridge street School Benefit...and Axle was horrible - he really cannot sing anymore - his voice is really gone and I doubt it's coming back...too much abuse and he never worked on it to beginning with - he had what he had when he had it and it's gone forever now. Since it's clear you are a GNG fan hope you get to see it - it's going to run through first few days of Feb I think on demand - HBO Go and all that stuff.
I second you: there are some movies you just can not ignore.....Dr. No would be a very cool polish!
ReplyDeleteI think Sean is THE James and Pierce, well I do not dislike Pierce: he is elegant :) Mister Daniel, I'm sorry he just doesn't do it for me I'm affraid I find him a big GLORK (goed lichaam ongelofelijke rotkop....google translate the Dutch to English....) and he walks like an ape ;) My favorite Bond girl would be.....Famke Janssen (naturally because she is dutch)and I like Sophie Morceau and Daniela Bianchi a lot as well. But my alltime favorite is Lois Maxwell as... Miss Moneypenny!!!
From the OPI collection the polishes The world is not enough, Golden Eye, On her majesty's secret service and Tomorrow never dies are my favorites.
I bought The living daylights as well (it was the first Bond I ever saw) but I do NOT, for the live of me, know what to do with it. The colors are weird, the glitters too big or too small, it's too dense and then it's too sparse...it just does not work for me :(
As or the reds: Casino Royale would be my pick. Skyfall is just too marroon for me.
Your swatches are beautiful! The finish in Live and let die I have seen too much allready with Zoya...it just does not make me warm and fuzzy any more.
