But I did get to go shopping on Saturday afternoon, which means that I have new clothes to wear today. Wheeeee.
Bryant had to take his certification exam (for teaching) which means that I got to spend time pilfering the racks at J.Crew and only picking out 5 things I liked at Forever 21. Sidenote: I think they were the only 5 things in the store without high-low (mullet) hems. Can that trend just end? I was pulling loads of cute blouses off the rack, only to find that they had that obnoxious hem. Apologies if you like it but I just...can't deal. Steph would be proud of me though, I DID buy the F21 Lobster sweater!
Everything I scored at J. Crew was on sale, which is always the best. And the sales associate that rang me up was a graduate of my school (which I found out because they offer a 15% discount to students), which made my day. Real Talk: If I don't get accepted to grad school, I'm just going to work at J. Crew forever. Optimal.
This was a long and rambling way to tell you that the polish I picked for today's post was a brand exclusive from a couple of years ago and I thought it'd be a nice tie in from the weekend.
I first saw Milky Way on K2K and knew I had to have it. Then again, I have an insatiable lemming for just about any polish she wears, so there's that. Anyway, this polish had a sister exclusive called Peepshow that I chose not to buy...and am kicking myself for now. They were both released with the Spring/Summer 2011 line.
It took me a while to warm up to the shade, it dries to the colour of the bottle but when it's wet, it looks like bad foundation. I was initially really sad when I bought it but finally let it dry and fell. in. love. I discovered yesterday that it's the exact colour of a Starbucks sleeve!
This is 3 coats with SV. And good news, I finally mastered NYC Grand Central Station! I'll have that for you later this week =)
J. Crew is currently partnered with FACE Stockholm (they've got a great mint/seafoam out right now that I almost came home with too) but I'd LOVE for them to partner with Essie again! Two of my favourite brands partnered together? YES PLEASE.
Check out what my girl Rach is wearing today!

I am also not a fan of the mullet hem. I don't mind it if the back is sliiiiightly lower than the front but I just cannot with the really dramatic high-low hemlines. Especially if the back dips low enough to cover your butt but the front doesn't. I want it all long enough to cover my butt, please. It looks ridiculous otherwise.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I really like this on you! It reminds me a little bit of my newly-beloved, funky-with-my-skintone-but-I-Don't-Caaaaaaare color, Essie Case Study.
YES! The worst is pulling one out of a row of clothes thinking "this blouse is really cute! I could wear it with errrrythang" only to realize it's a mullet. Womp womp womp.
DeleteThanks lady! It's actually pretty similar to Case Study (which I also love). Not quite as...green maybe? lol.
Oh man, does this look good on you. Girl. Why are you not working for J. Crew already? Get those discounts!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for next month!!! :D
Thank you!! I would be ALL over it if the closest store wasn't 45 minutes away :(
DeleteMe neither!!!
