I know it's because the majority of my nudes are Essie and I don't want to always be showing you RBL (the second closest, size-wise, in my stash). And I wasn't sure that Cult Nails My Kind of Kool Aid counts as a nude/neutral/work-apropos. Does it? If so, I'll use it in a Skinny Dipping post! I've been waiting for Maria to restock Crusin' Nude so I can snap it up but that hasn't happened so far.
Now that I've checked a few things off my to-do list, let's get to polish!
When Essie was puchased by L'Oreal and subsequently became available at retail stores in 2010 (HOLY SHIT that seems like freakin' forever ago, amirite?), we all know that there were a few retail-only exclusives. There were 11 additions but I promptly ordered Mochaccino (which has since been purged), Dive Bar (which met the same fate) and Master Plan. I also bought Sweet Talker later but that's not exactly relevant to this.
I am bird-walking a lot in this post. I blame the coffee.
Master Plan was the only polish from my original retail-exclusive purchases to stay in my stash, mostly because it's gorgeous with our favourite creme formula. It's a soft greige that we've all come to fall for but it also has a very, very faint purple twinge to it that I die over. We've discussed how Chinchilly is like everyone's favorite whisper-thin grey tee or the sweatshirt you wear when you need a bit of comfort (err...we did, before I deleted a bunch of photos accidentally that one time). Master Plan is that sweatshirt's sophisticated older sister: that perfectly baggy, long broken-in cashmere sweater you wear with dark wash skinnys and flats when you're running Saturday errands. Okay, maybe that's just me.
Gah, my cuticles are a mess. Sorry!
I really, really love this polish. It feels luxurious to me, I dunno. Anyway, there has been a lot of talk about it being a dupe, or at least extremely close to Lippmann Waking Up In Vegas. In fact, Rach did a comparison!
Also, I ordered Waking Up In Vegas this weekend. I had a $10 off coupon to HSN, which means I scored that polish for $7, with free shipping. A Lippmann for less than Essie at a drugstore? Sign a girl up.
Speaking of Lippmann, I'm planning to show you one this week that's rumored to be a dupe (or at least very very very close) to another HE brand. In fact, it could be argued that this polish was duped first!
Also, please go check out what my partner-in-crime is wearing today. Please?
